Wow…..my first CD, what a mystical journey, what an education. Creating this cd was so much more involved than I ever could have imagined. It started as a dream and over the last two years, has changed shape numerous times…whether in the writing stages, the recording stages or even in the final processing stages. Ultimately, it has evolved into something only dreams are made of. Somehow that seems only right.

Two years ago Mike Stanutz suggested I try my hand at writing lyrics. I like a challenge – so I gave it a shot. What a learning curve! Once I got past what to write about, I had a ball. I like to look at songs as “stories,” and after so many years of singing other people’s stories, I watched some of my own simply come to life.

We began by exploring attributes of 50’s styled music, implementing many of them into our original material. At times, we totally step out of the box. Mike and I have spent countless hours busily shaping the music for our CD. “Reunion” is a celebration of our joys, our loves, our fears and our families. By the way, that’s Mike in the bottom right hand corner.

The Suzanne Ramsay Trio started by focusing on the stylings of 50’s jazz…the innocence of the homespun, the sultry sexiness of the glam girls, the blues of the downtrodden and the allure of the exotic. I just can’t seem to get enough of this music and the book continues to grow, as does the size of the band. read more
