Dichotomy is here!
Welcome to my new and much refreshed website....wow.....I'm in definite flux.....an amazing place to be. My life has been changing and so has a good portion of my material from a 50's feel into something newer and freer....perhaps a bit more 60's sounding. There's some latin and some Miles goin' on. Metamorphasis is everyhwere! The music's new spin starts with Jazz......sometimes plays with alternative.....sometimes soundscapes, oh and can't forget the Leon Helm influence. This is Mike Stanutz and my second all original project. Having release "Reunion" in 2006.....the beginning of Dichotomy marked a time of great sadness in my life. It has given me great strength and a wonderful sense of purpose. Thank you Mike! Somehow we've all survived and now find ourselves in a time of great joy. Put it all together and you get Dichotomy....a combination of jazz, alt folk/roots with a big dollop of heart. It is what it is....and I'm so pleased.....as to me it sounds Canadian....and somehow that just feels right.
Other than that...I have a few ideas that are burning bright these days. We've been busy with something called Hippy Jazz and can't wait to share that one with you too. We are going into the studio this weekend to record a few of our hippest hippy numbers. But right now it's all about DICHOTOMY.....the collaborative work of myself and Mike Stanutz....a dichotomy if I've ever seen one.
And....the trio continues to work. I'm missing my jazz standards terribly so am re-enlisting my guys.....Clark Johnston and Bob Shields. You may just find us out and about in Wine Country.
The Pots portion of my website is something relatively new....although I've done pottery for years... I've recently found the courage to set up my own little pottery studio in the basement. Somehow for me ....one feeds the other and I look forward to seeing what the future brings...writing, clay, Dichotomy and oh yeah....Hippy Jazz. It's a good world. So happy that you're here!!! :)
